Ogden council backs workforce housing tax credit applications, sets public hearing on Coterie project

Ogden City Council voted June 9 to back workforce housing tax credit applications and advance a residential development review as part of a proposed Coterie Development project.
The council approved a resolution of support for Coterie Development’s workforce housing tax credit application and a second resolution supporting an application by Zach McCloud. Councilmembers voted unanimously for both resolutions. The council also approved Coterie Development’s Proposal for Purchase and Residential Development, but tabled the actual purchase agreement until the July meeting and set a public hearing on the real-estate transfer for 6:30 p.m. July 14.
The actions keep the project moving through the city’s procedural steps while reserving final property-transfer approval for a subsequent meeting. Abby Gilroy presented the single proposal the city received for the block of W. Division Street and answered council questions about the development concept and timeline.
The items approved on June 9 were procedural in nature: approval of the proposal (which passed), tabling of the purchase agreement for further review, and scheduling the public hearing to solicit formal public comment before any final conveyance. The council did not vote to finalize the purchase agreement at this meeting.
The council also approved publishing a request for proposals for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) administration services to support an IEDA-funded project; that motion passed with one member abstaining.
The council is expected to revisit the Coterie purchase agreement at its July meeting; the public hearing on July 14 will be the next formal opportunity for adjoining property owners and other members of the public to comment.
