Revenue Collector Judith Stumpo told the Board of Selectmen that town staff has drafted three proposed ordinances for the board’s consideration.
The first would expand the existing authority to withhold building permits for delinquent property taxes to also cover delinquent sewer and water charges, with a waiver option for residents demonstrating severe hardship that the board could grant. The second ordinance would authorize the Revenue Collector to collect all sewer use and connection fees. The third would permit paid municipal employees to serve on specified boards and commissions — Inland Wetland & Watercourses Commission, Planning & Zoning Commission, and the Zoning Board of Appeals — but would add an extra application step requiring the Board of Selectmen to confirm there are no conflicts with the applicant.
Stumpo presented the proposals as draft items requiring additional review; the board discussed their scope but did not vote on any ordinance at the Feb. 4 meeting. If advanced, the ordinances would move through the town’s standard drafting and public-notice processes before any adoption vote.
