Aurelia council accepts mayor’s resignation; clerk to post vacancy notice

Council Member Nelson moved and Council Member Johnson seconded a motion on Aug. 7 to accept Mayor Denny Weather’s resignation effective Aug. 6, 2025. The motion passed unanimously in a roll-call vote, recorded as “aye”: Fassler, Johnson, Nelson, Bruce and Redig; “nay”: none.

The action creates a mayoral vacancy in Aurelia. City Clerk Steph McSparran said she will post a Notice of Intent to Fill the mayor’s vacancy by appointment, as required by local procedure. The council also reset its next regular meeting to Aug. 25, 2025.
