Two residents addressed the Hertford council during the public-comment portion of the Feb. 13 meeting, raising concerns about town event audio, fireworks safety and traffic signage.
Muriel Harmon asked the council to invest in an upgraded sound system to ensure events are audible to all attendees as the town grows. Sara Winslow thanked the council and Manager Cole for pursuing grants tied to Harbor Town Cruises that could fund dock upgrades, expressed concern about monitoring where July 4 fireworks are set off because of safety risks, and reported that the flashing speed sign on the new S-bridge has not worked for several weeks.
Those public comments framed later council discussion approving two solar speed displays to collect time-of-day speed data on and near the S-bridge; the displays will be funded from the Powell Bill and were approved 5-0. Council did not take direct action on sound-system upgrades or fireworks regulation at the Feb. 13 meeting.
