Hertford council unanimously approves junked-car ordinance, two budget amendments and cancels Feb. 27 work session

Mayor Earnell Brown called the Town of Hertford work session to order on Feb. 25, 2023, at the Albemarle Commission Auditorium and the council conducted several routine business actions.
The council voted unanimously to approve revisions to the town’s Junked Car Ordinance after Councilwoman Connie Brothers moved approval and Councilman Jerry Mimlitsch seconded. Mayor Brown then asked for a motion to cancel the scheduled Feb. 27, 2023 work session; Mayor Pro Tem Ashley Hodges moved to cancel and Mimlitsch seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The council also approved two budget amendments for the current fiscal year. Mayor Brown asked for approval of Budget Amendment FY23-8; Mayor Pro Tem Hodges moved the amendment and Mimlitsch seconded. Later, Councilman Mimlitsch moved to approve Budget Amendment FY23-9 and Councilwoman Brothers seconded; that motion likewise passed unanimously. No vote tallies were recorded in the minutes beyond unanimity.
Before adjourning, Mimlitsch moved to adjourn; Brothers seconded. The motion carried and the work session concluded at 5:25 p.m.
The council roster listed Earnell Brown as mayor; Ashley Hodges as mayor pro tem; and council members Jerry Mimlitsch, Sandra Anderson and Connie Brothers. Town Manager Janice McKenzie Cole was present; Town Clerk Gina Durante was recorded as absent.
