At a virtual meeting, the Commission Subcommittee on Development Project Review discussed proposed amendments to regulations governing high‑density housing and informally backed pushing the moratorium review to Aug. 31, 2025 rather than allowing it to expire during the December holidays.
The committee discussed which sizes and densities of potential developments the draft rules would affect and weighed developable land and water usage concerns. After that discussion, the subcommittee decided not to submit a new letter commenting on the draft regulations.
Chair Steve Ferrigno said scheduling the moratorium’s expiration in December could reduce public participation, saying scheduling the expiration “during this busy period may discourage residents and committee members from voicing their opinions.” Ex‑officio Member Brian Coleman and Member Nancy McKenney voiced support for extending the moratorium until Aug. 31, 2025. “August would be a good time to reevaluate as The Standard at Four Corners would be starting to welcome residents by that time,” Ms. McKenney said.
Committee members agreed they would like to recommend an exemption to any extension for 55+ and senior living communities, but the transcript records no formal motion or recorded vote on an extension. The subcommittee also recorded that there were no public comments during this meeting.
The minutes list the next regular meeting of the Economic Development Commission as Aug. 15, 2024. The meeting minutes were submitted by Rosemary Watson, Administrative Assistant, Mansfield Downtown Partnership. The minutes record an adjournment time of 10:25; the printed start time is 10:05. The minutes do not list a calendar date for the subcommittee session itself.
