Rolfe Council sets cleanup, Halloween events, lists chipper for sale and approves pool winterization cost-sharing

The Rolfe City Council handled a string of community and administrative items during its Sept. 8 meeting, approving event dates, authorizing a surplus sale listing, and agreeing to share pool winterization costs.
On routine business the council approved its consent agenda, which included minutes and bills. It approved two building permits (porch addition at 300 Walnut St. and a wooden fence at 813 Broad St.). A motion to auction the city's small chipper died for lack of a second; the council instead voted to list the chipper for sale online and in the newspaper.
The council set fall clean-up days for Oct. 15-16 with two roll-off dumpsters to be delivered between the fire station and utility shop (no curb pickup). It also set community Trick-or-Treating and Trunk-or-Treat for Nov. 1 from 2-4 p.m.
Park Board President Kevin Kerns circulated photos showing extensive pool repairs needed. Sarah Munson of the pool committee offered to pay for antifreeze to winterize the pool; the council voted to have the city cover half that antifreeze expense.
Personnel actions included pausing an Indeed hiring ad and authorizing interviews for seven applicants who passed initial background checks. The minutes record that Clerk Brandi Henderson and Treasurer Sindergard provided updates on software upgrades, billing changes and fund/bill detail included in the packet.
The minutes list payroll and vendor bills in the record; financial details are captured in the minutes rather than discussed at length during the meeting.
