Commission pays claims; staff to review participant-insurance requirement for university events

The Bannock County commissioners on June 25 approved routine claims on the agenda and directed staff to review a participant-insurance requirement tied to events involving the University of Idaho.
Christie explained the payment is a pass-through of participant fees and that U of I requires an additional participant-insurance policy for events. "When I called Nikki and asked her what this was... participants pay contribution amounts and then they are covered when there are events," Christie said, noting the arrangement appears to be contractually required by the university.
Commissioners agreed to release the check because the monies come from participant fees, but asked Matthew Phillips to review the policy wording to determine whether it duplicates county coverage or could be endorsed as primary coverage for claims. Phillips said he would look into the contract language and report back.
A motion to pay the claims was made and approved by voice vote.
