"We're sending out so much mail for the jurors and so that's what that postage is," the justice court clerk said, explaining higher postage and juror expense in years with many trials.
Participants noted publicity and subscriptions were under-used and proposed shifting funds into travel to avoid increasing overall appropriations. The committee agreed to set publicity/subscriptions at $600 and increase travel to $1,400 to allow room for training travel and other transportation costs. "Let's make it six. And then we'll add... make that 1400," one committee member said while the panel accepted the adjustment.
Officials also reviewed other variable lines such as contract services and noted the potential for swings depending on trial frequency; they asked staff to monitor those accounts and return updated pages once employee wages and contributions are finalized.
No formal vote was recorded; the adjustment was an agreed reallocation during budget review.
