Beaman City Council adopts FY2027 budget, approves one-day liquor license and schedules budget amendment hearing

The Beaman City Council on April 23 unanimously adopted RES 2026-03, the city’s FY2027 Annual Budget, after a public hearing that produced no public comments. Mayor Mindy Ashton opened the hearing and the council closed it at 6:03 p.m.
Brandon Schleisman moved to adopt the resolution; Council member Jason Scaferri seconded. The motion passed with ayes from Schleisman, Scaferri, Barry Brockman, Rhonda Rego and Hoss Tompkins.
In the same meeting the council approved a one-day liquor license for Olive or Twist for May 23, 2026, contingent on the business adding the required dram shop insurance endorsement. Jason Scaferri moved for approval and Hoss Tompkins seconded; the vote was 5-0 in favor.
Council members also set a public hearing for a FY2026 budget amendment for 6:00 p.m. on May 14, 2026. The motion to set the hearing was made by Brandon Schleisman and seconded by Barry Brockman; it passed unanimously.
No other formal actions were taken during the meeting. The council adjourned at 6:34 p.m.
