Milo City Council approves FY2027 estimated expenses, honors two volunteers

Milo City Council on Feb. 16 approved the city's estimated expenses for fiscal year 2027 and completed routine agenda business, while Mayor Hall presented Volunteer of the Year awards to two residents.
The meeting opened at 7:00 p.m. with Mayor Hall calling roll and leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Councilmember Mason moved to approve the meeting agenda; Amsden seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The council approved the consent agenda on a motion by Amsden, seconded by Mason. The consent items included accounts payable of $11,609.42 covering Feb. 3 —eb. 16, 2026; the Feb. 2, 2026 meeting minutes; the January 2026 Warren County Sheriff's report; and January 2026 reconciliations for city checking, endowment checking, fire auxiliary checking, library auxiliary checking and the treasurer's report.
Mayor Hall presented the 2025 Milo Volunteer of the Year awards to Sarah Goode and June Coffman. The mayor noted June Coffman's long service supporting Milo's blood drive for more than 40 years. Sarah Goode also provided the council with details about the 2025 Milo Small Town Country Christmas event.
There were no public comments. Mayor Hall said City Attorney Stuyvesant advised the council to take no action at this time on camper concerns. The City Clerk reported that further information about an insurance stipend will be provided at the April meeting.
Councilmember Griggs asked that the area around the trail carving tree be cleaned; Mayor Hall said he would notify Doug in city maintenance. The clerk said Doug is arranging repairs to broken bulbs in the upper ballfield outfield lights and asked what to do with old bleachers; the clerk will provide a photo to council for direction. Griggs said the Lions Club sign for the trail is in hand and will be installed soon.
On budgeting business, council reviewed final estimated expenses and, on a motion by Amsden seconded by Mason, approved the FY2027 estimated expenses by unanimous vote.
The council set its next meeting for Monday, March 2, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Milo City Hall, 100 Main Street, and adjourned at 7:26 p.m.
