The Milo City Council approved a contract to refurbish the town bandstand on Monday, allocating up to $11,600 for the project. Councilmember Griggs moved the award of the $10,969.14 bid to H&C Construction with a not-to-exceed allowance for replacing the frame, plexiglass and cleaning name plates and memorial planks; Councilmember Mason seconded the motion, which passed with Amsden, Rasmussen, Griggs and Mason voting aye (Rodgers absent).
The refurbishment was presented as a city project to preserve the bandstand structure and the memorial elements beneath it. Councilmember Griggs said the work will include cosmetic and structural items and recommended combining grant funds and Local Option Sales Tax to cover costs. The council recorded that $2,605 of the project will come from grant funds and the balance from Local Option Sales Tax, establishing a total available budget of $11,600.
Maintenance Director Doug Hembry confirmed the city will oversee the work and handle any logistical coordination. The council did not approve additional related projects at this meeting; members indicated further items would be addressed in future budget or project updates.
