Milo council authorizes Lions Club tree carving, announces Friends of Milo Parks group

Milo — The Milo City Council on Jan. 5 approved a request from the Milo Lions Club to commission a carving of a dead tree on the city trail, and Councilmember Griggs announced a volunteer Friends of Milo Parks group to help plan park activities.
On a motion by Amsden, seconded by Rodgers, the council approved allowing the Milo Lions Club to hire a person to carve the dead tree along the trail into the Lions Club logo or a similar design. The motion specified the project would be at no expense to the city and passed with Amsden, Rasmussen, Rodgers and Griggs voting in favor; Mason was absent.
During departmental reports Griggs asked that trail mowing responsibilities be added to the next agenda. Griggs also announced that the Friends of Milo Parks group will include Griggs, Randy Uttley, Joe Kinser, Erica Wadle and Sarah Nutting and described the group as a think‑tank to generate park planning ideas for council review and potential implementation.
Council did not take formal action on trail mowing at the Jan. 5 meeting; Griggs asked the item be added to the Jan. 19 agenda for further discussion.
