The Milo City Council voted on April 20, 2026 to permit a $500 monthly stipend for employees who opt out of the city-provided health insurance. Councilmember Amsden moved and Councilmember Griggs seconded the motion, which the council approved by roll call. The stipend is scheduled to begin July 1, 2026, the start of the fiscal year, and the city clerk was instructed to add the provision to the employee handbook and present a resolution at the next council meeting for formal adoption.
During the same agenda item, council members raised concerns about the Warren County Sheriff’s contract; Mayor Hall said he will send a letter to Sheriff Carico outlining those concerns. The Milo Code of Ordinances codification project was tabled to the next meeting.
The stipend choice gives employees who decline city insurance a fixed monthly payment; the council did not specify how many employees, if any, plan to opt out. Final handbook language and any future resolution will specify program details and eligibility.
