Pittsburg County and Krebs renew joint emergency management agreement for FY 2026–27

The Pittsburg County Board of County Commissioners on June 15 approved a one‑year renewal of the joint Civil Defense/Emergency Management Administration agreement with the City of Krebs for fiscal year 2026–2027.
Denton Cossey described the agreement as the standard intergovernmental contract under the Oklahoma Civil Defense Act that formalizes shared emergency management planning and operations. The agreement lists the City of Krebs’ compensation to Pittsburg County Emergency Management at $9,581.80 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027. The contract text also clarifies responsibilities for EOC support, staff training, public information, damage assessment, and FEMA claim reimbursement (management costs) where applicable.
Commissioner Selman moved to accept the agreement and the motion was seconded and approved unanimously. County staff will process the agreement for signatures and the funding will be handled through the county financial procedures.
The contract references state and federal frameworks for emergency management, including the Oklahoma Civil Defense Act of 1957 and federal PL 85‑606 as enabling authorities for interjurisdictional cooperation and possible federal benefits.
