Commission accepts eight internal investigations, moves to executive session for sergeant interviews

The Middletown Police Commission voted to accept eight internal investigations after the police chief read summaries of each case. The chief stated that each investigation, as presented to the commission, found no violations of departmental policy.

Commissioner Sullivan moved to accept the investigations and Commissioner Mills seconded; the motion was recorded as approved by the commission.

Following acceptance of the investigations and completion of regular business, the commission voted to enter executive session to discuss personnel matters and to conduct sergeant interviews. Commissioner Rodriguez moved and Commissioner Canolei seconded the motion; the commission approved the executive session, which the chair scheduled to begin at 4:20 p.m.

The chief had earlier said the sergeant position is vacant after Sergeant Welch retired. The commission did not discuss the internal investigations in further detail in public session and moved the personnel discussion into executive session as recorded.
