Authority approves one-time force-main flushing and SCADA programming upgrade

The presenter explained the approach as a trial program to determine effective flush frequency and noted it is a one-time fee (quoted in the packet at $13,680). "Right now, we have 1 day a week. We run it for, like, 6, 8 hours, but that doesn't seem to have taken care of the problems," operations explained, arguing more frequent, programmed flushing may reduce odors and buildup.
The board approved the program and the programming change. Members also discussed possible future remote access and cybersecurity concerns but concluded the operational benefit justified the one-time upgrade.
Next steps: staff will contract with vendor to perform the programming change and monitor effectiveness, then report back on operational results.
