Staff member said the hole had been temporarily secured and provided photographs and an initial site assessment. "It appears to be a 48 inch going into possibly a 36 inch... it's rotten bad," the field staff reported. District staff recommended engaging the engineering firm that had already visited the site to develop options and estimates.
The board voted to declare an emergency for the Old Ridge culvert and authorized staff to solicit emergency proposals for engineering and construction, directing staff to return with scope and pricing as soon as feasible. Chair said staff should seek a plan before the next meeting and emphasized public-safety considerations in accelerating work.
Next steps: staff will obtain engineering proposals and present cost and construction options to the board for authorization to proceed.
