Sanitation Committee approves sewer-bill adjustment, hears wastewater plant update

The Mount Pleasant Sanitation Committee on Dec. 4 granted a sewer-bill adjustment for Haunted Rails and heard updates on plant operations and solid-waste finances.
Committee member Matt Crull presented a request for an adjustment to his Mount Pleasant utility bill for Haunted Rails, saying the account showed 33,000 gallons of usage compared with prior years of about 15,000 to 20,000 gallons. The Committee granted the request; staff was instructed to submit an adjustment to Utilities.
Jon provided an update on the wastewater treatment plant, reporting recent operational issues and that several purchases had come in higher than anticipated. He said recent improvements to the plant are complete and the facility is prepared for an upcoming software upgrade.
Brent Schleisman gave Committee members a copy of the financial summary for the Des Moines County Residential Solid Waste Commission. The meeting record does not specify further action on that summary.
The Committee also reviewed a request from Tabitha Carlson and chose to take no action. Meeting paperwork included standard prepared and approved signature lines for the minutes.
