Dodge County Board approves claims, licenses and zoning actions at Nov. 27 meeting

The Dodge County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 27 unanimously approved routine financial and administrative items, including wage and hour claims of $304,333.71 and financial claims of $538,186.45.
The Board authorized two 2016 Ford Explorers, declared surplus at the sheriff’s request, to be sold through Jack Nitz & Associates. It approved renewal of Dodge County’s National Association of Counties membership for $743 and accepted investment applications for 2025 from Union Bank & Trust and NPAIT, reaching a consensus to keep county investments local.
At 9:15 a.m. the Board approved a Class D off-sale liquor license for Saga Properties Fremont, LLC dba Dual Stop Fremont after Manager Savan Patel explained the business had previously lost its license following credit problems tied to reduced traffic when the Bell Street viaduct closed.
Zoning Administrator Jean Andrews reported the Planning Commission’s unanimous recommendation to approve James Minarick’s subdivision and Conditional Use Permit for a dwelling at 941 County Road 6 in Pleasant Valley Township; with no testimony, the Board approved both. The Board also appointed Marlin Brabec to a three-year term on the Board of Adjustment.
County Treasurer Winterstein’s recommendation to grant a 2024 motor vehicle tax exemption (Form 457) for a 2025 Interstate trailer owned by Midland University was accepted, and Chairman Missel was authorized to sign the form.
Why it matters: These approvals finalize routine county business that affects budgeting, property use and local services. Several items were unanimous and required no further action before the next regular meeting.
The Board adjourned to reconvene Dec. 11, 2024.
