Ansonia Board adopts $38.6 million 2025–26 budget and approves modest salary increases, paraprofessionals contract

Superintendent DiBacco described budget constraints following local referendums that were turned down and thanked the mayor and staff for working to identify available funds, including savings from positions that will remain unfilled. Business official Mr. Marriott reviewed the numbers in the budget packet and presented the final recommended amount of $38,612,089.
On staffing and compensation, Superintendent DiBacco told the board the district does not have funds for large salary increases and recommended a 2.5% increase for non-union employees; the board approved the superintendent's suggestions for non-union contract extensions and salary increases by unanimous vote.
The board also approved a bargaining agreement with paraprofessionals represented by AFT-CT Local No. 2181. DiBacco said the paraprofessionals were cooperative within the tighter budget constraints and agreed to a minimum salary increase; the negotiated contract was approved 6–0.
All motions recorded in the minutes related to the non-union contracts, the paraprofessionals agreement, and the budget were adopted by unanimous recorded votes. The minutes note that district leadership expects to operate on a tight budget moving forward and that pressure on resources may continue in coming years.
