The Ansonia Board of Education approved final plans and the professional cost estimate for the Ansonia High School roofing project at its March 12 meeting, moving the long‑running project closer to bidding.
Facilities Director Bob Evans told the Board the project has been active since 2018 and was bonded in 2019; the district must complete a state plan review before soliciting bids. Evans said the state review is scheduled for April 7 and the district’s goal is to put the project out to bid the following week. He also said, after tonight’s approval, the project will go before the School Building Commission next week.
Board member Beth LaBerge read the certification language attesting that final plans and the project manual prepared for bidding (dated Jan. 8, 2025) and the professional cost estimate completed in accordance with Level 3 of ASTM International Standard E1557 / UNIFORMAT II have been reviewed and approved for the project. The motion to approve the plans carried unanimously (5–0).
Administrators said engineers were invited to the meeting but were not needed, and that work already completed during February break (including rooftop unit replacements at the middle school) demonstrates the district’s ongoing facilities efforts. The administration will proceed with the state plan review and prepare the bid documents if the review is favorable.
