The Stamford School District Operations Committee on Aug. 20 approved a contract with Affinoco (doing business as Pritchard Industries) to provide scheduled part-time custodial personnel under a publicly procured award.
Chair read the related resolution and the motion was seconded; facilities staff explained the district issued an RFP in May and named Affinoco as the most responsive and lowest-cost bidder. Kevin McCarthy described the contract as scheduled cleaning assignments (20 hours per week) with a contractual cap on hours per person and said the district has reduced the number of part-time custodians from about 56 to roughly 26 this year because of budget cuts. "They were the last... I believe it was a 3 year contract we had with them," McCarthy said, describing prior engagement with the vendor.
The resolution language as read in the meeting includes a payment figure of $5,350.75 and references a not-to-exceed amount in the read text that was unclear in the transcript. The committee voted by raised hands and the motion passed 3-0.
The committee did not record additional conditions in the meeting. Facilities staff said the contract allows scheduled replacement custodial coverage but does not supplement full-time staff, and that the district is operating with a minimal part-time roster to meet cleaning schedules.
