Board approves contract extension for clocks and public-address upgrade at Stamford High and Clumen Middle School

The Stamford School District’s Operations Committee voted unanimously Aug. 20 to approve a contract extension with Auto Home Commercial (AHC Electronic Systems) to replace failing clock systems at Stamford High School and the front-end equipment for the public-address (PA) system at Clumen Middle School.

Chair read Resolution 0827-24:69 and moved the motion; a second was recorded and the committee approved the measure by a 3-0 voice/hand vote. Kevin McCarthy, speaking for facilities, said the systems are "beyond their useful life" and parts are "extremely hard to get," and described AHC as the district’s on-call vendor for fire alarms, clock systems, low-voltage electronics and PA systems. "This contract extension is for the replacement of the clocks at Stamford High throughout the building with a new master station, a couple of new master stations, actually," McCarthy said, and added the extension covers replacement of the processors and controllers for the Clumen Middle School PA head end.

The resolution specifies a not-to-exceed amount of $117,104.92 for the work described. Committee attendance was noted before the vote; one member was absent and another was ill, and the motion passed with the three present members voting in favor.

The committee did not record additional conditions or required amendments during the session. The board plans to move to the next agenda items and to receive further district project updates at the Aug. 27 meeting noted during the session.
