The Wymore City Council approved the 2025–26 budget and adopted a resolution setting the city’s property tax request during its Sept. 17 meeting.
The council voted 4-0 to adopt the budget and passed Resolution No. 2025-04, which sets the 2025–26 property tax request with a General Fund request of $147,631.24 and a Bond Fund request of $225,588.00. The resolution states the city’s total assessed value of property differs from last year’s total assessed value by 36.75 percent and proposes a tax rate of 0.623411 per $100 of assessed value. The resolution instructs that a copy be certified and forwarded to the County Clerk on or before Oct. 15, 2025.
Council discussion during the public hearing noted that keeping the same dollar amount as the prior year would lower the levy; at one point a council member said the total increase from last year was 37.65 percent. The adopted resolution, however, records the assessed-value change as 36.75 percent and the city’s staff will certify the resolution to the county as required.
The resolution also states the city’s operating budget will change by 26.23 percent compared with last year. No public comments opposing the budget or tax request were recorded during the hearings.
The council opened and closed the required public hearings on the budget and on the final tax request by roll-call motions before approving the final documents.
