The Sharon Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday to approve a revised contract with Champion, adopting Option 2, which increases the minimum-enrollment-guarantee waiver period to 90 days and adds a provision that the school assume liability for the program until it obtains a license.
Board member Nancy Hegy Martin moved to adopt Option 2; board member Anne Vance seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. The special meeting was called to order at 5:08 p.m. and adjourned at 5:28 p.m.
Board minutes list the five elected members in attendance—Doug Cahill, Anne Vance, Nancy Hegy Martin, Philip O’Reilly and Kathleen Visconti—and note that Superintendent Melony Brady-Shanley, Principal Carol Tomkalski and Board Clerk Cindy Webb were present. The minutes record a discussion of the Champion contract and then the formal motion to adopt Option 2, which the minutes describe as including both the 90-day waiver and the added liability provision for the school until a license is secured.
The minutes do not include extended debate, detailed fiscal figures, or a roll-call of individual yes/no votes; they record only that the motion “carried unanimously.” No additional directives, timelines for implementation, or conditions beyond the liability language and waiver length are specified in the minutes.
The special meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn made by Philip O’Reilly and seconded by Anne Vance; that motion also carried unanimously at 5:28 p.m.
