Board approves two tuition students, discusses common-application addendum and upcoming policy readings

The Sharon Board of Education approved two tuition admissions for the 2025–26 school year at its April 21 meeting.
Anne Vance moved, seconded by Kathleen Visconti, to accept Charlotte Olsen as a tuition student for 2025–26; the board approved the motion unanimously. Later, the board approved, on a motion by Anne Vance and second by Nancy Hegy Martin, the conditional acceptance of Karsyn Johyns "if eligible." Both motions were recorded as carrying unanimously in the minutes.
During public comment Heather Mathews read a letter from the Sharon Center Association; the text of the letter is included in the meeting record. Superintendent Melony Brady-Shanley also proposed adding a common-application addendum to the district’s tuition policy to standardize the application process; the board discussed the idea and will consider it in forthcoming meetings.
The board noted that at the May meeting there will be first readings for the Volunteer Policy, Substitute Teacher Policy and Soliciting Prices/Bids Policy. The board also authorized Superintendent Brady-Shanley to work with Tom Mooney to adjust the transportation policy.
No final policy adoptions were recorded; the minutes show the items scheduled for first reading in May.
