At its April 21 meeting the Sharon Board of Education approved two facility actions: a $103,906 sitework contract with Metcalf Paving and a $47,112.65 expenditure from the district’s nonlapsing account to purchase and install a new fire panel.
Nancy Hegy Martin moved, and Philip O'Reilly seconded, the motion to accept the Metcalf Paving sitework bid for $103,906. Board members discussed whether the motion needed to include a condition about pending town approval and determined it did not; the motion carried unanimously.
Later in the meeting the board considered funding for a new fire panel. Nancy Hegy Martin again moved the motion, seconded by Philip O'Reilly, to approve taking $47,112.65 from the nonlapsing account for the fire panel. The motion passed with five yes votes — Doug Cahill, Nancy Hegy Martin, Philip O'Reilly, Anne Vance and Kathleen Visconti — and one no vote from Plamen Petkov, who participated virtually.
The board deferred discussion of the broader Capital Plan until it receives a report from the engineers.
No vendors’ statements or contract attachments were included in the minutes; approvals were recorded in the board minutes with the amounts specified.
