Sand Lake council approves routine equipment purchases, appointments and holiday event plans

At its Oct. 20 meeting the Village of Sand Lake council cleared a suite of routine items: it approved a printer purchase, authorized repair of the village electric sign, accepted the resignation of Planning Commission member Jeremy Jerome, appointed Bavillian to the Planning Commission, accepted a donation for Salisbury Park and approved a Christmas event form after discussing early holiday decoration installation.
The council authorized purchase of an IMC 320F printer for up to $2,252.10 (motion by Wright, supported by Christensen) and approved repair of the Village’s electric sign (motion by Wright, supported by Christensen). Council accepted Jeremy Jerome’s resignation from the Planning Commission (motion by Christensen, supported by Camilleri) and accepted a letter of intent from Bavillian to join the Planning Commission (motion by Helton, supported by Merritt). Council accepted donation of two burning bushes for Salisbury Park (motion by Helton, supported by Camilleri).
Council discussed Christmas decorations, noting DPW’s observation that breakers were being overloaded by holiday plugs; council agreed lights may be hung early so long as the village banners remain in place. Council approved a Christmas Event Form (motion by Wright, supported by Camilleri). The minutes record these items as carried without extended debate.
During public comment later in the meeting, a commenter recorded as “Light Broken by Aiden’s Place” was noted, and a commenter named Craig asked about backflow check valves; the DPW Supervisor told Craig the annual backflow check is required and is provided at no cost to the business owner but must be done yearly to protect the village system.
The consent agenda (approved earlier in the meeting) included minutes, financial reports and routine department reports; council approved the consent agenda with an amendment to the Oct. 13 special meeting minutes. The consent agenda vote recorded Doerr, Wright, Merritt, Camilleri, Christensen and Latham as yes and Helton as no.
