The Village of Sand Lake council approved routine consent items and several community requests at its Aug. 18 meeting.
The consent agenda — which included the July 28 minutes, cash receipting and account balances, Fire Department and DPW items — was approved on a motion by Camilleri, supported by Helton.
Council approved a change of work order for the municipal office to include carpeting after a motion by Wright, supported by Christensen. The council also approved a Fall Festival and vendor sales event at the Lakeside Inn organized by Dawn Marie Ministry, contingent upon receiving proof of insurance. The council accepted a donated bench for Salisbury Park from the Mary Queen of Apostles Ladies Guild; Helton moved and Christensen supported both motions.
During public comment Pastor Jorge thanked the council for approving the memorial bench for his wife and acknowledged assistance from a volunteer named Ryan. Earlier in the meeting Pastor Jorge and a resident named Tammy raised safety concerns about crossing lanes on Lake Street near Rosie’s and asked the council to consider brighter paint and speed signs with flashing lights.
No council comments were recorded and the meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
