Wymore council consolidates Cemetery Association accounts and adds $100,000 for fence project

After that presentation, the council voted to move all Cemetery Association bank accounts into a single 'Cemetery Special' money market account while leaving existing certificates of deposit in place until maturity unless they could be transferred without penalty.
The motion to consolidate the accounts was made by Council member Max Allen, seconded by Curt Oblinger, and carried 4-0. The council also added a $100,000 capital improvements line item to the Cemetery Budget to cover expenses for a planned fence project. Because the project exceeds the city’s $30,000 informal bidding threshold, the Cemetery Association will be required to advertise for bids and will return to a future council agenda for further action on the project.
Pam Gerdes provided account reports to the council during the discussion. The council’s actions change how the cemetery’s funds are held for administrative clarity while preserving CD maturities. The city clerk will record the account consolidation in city financial records and coordinate next steps for the planned capital project and the procurement process.
The cemetery items were discussed as part of the council’s regular business and included in the adopted 2025-26 departmental budgets.
