York Public Schools board elects 2026 president and vice-president, appoints committees

Brien Alley was elected president of the York Public Schools Board of Education for 2026 after a motion from board member Matt Holthe and a second from Brian Tonnignes.
The nomination for Alley and a separate nomination that appointed Alison North as vice-president were each approved by roll call. Alex Hildebrand moved North’s nomination with Matt Holthe seconding; both elections carried on unanimous votes recorded in the meeting.
The board also voted to appoint its committee memberships for the year as presented. Pepper Papineau moved the committee slate, Alison North seconded, and the board approved membership assignments for Building and Grounds; Transportation; Board Policies; American Civics/Curriculum; Negotiations; Wages for Non-Teachers; and LB357 oversight.
In officer appointments, the board approved Carol Faller and Gayla Knight as treasurers and named Gayla Knight secretary. The motion to appoint officers was made by Pepper Papineau and seconded by Brian Tonnignes; the board approved the slate by roll call.
The reorganization items were presented and approved without further amendment during the board’s regular Jan. 12 meeting at the Office of the Superintendent.
