Asbestos cleanup at Brookline Transfer Station completed; town awaits DES clearance

The Selectboard received an update April 28 that asbestos remediation at the Transfer Station began April 14 and that Omni Environmental spent five days on site to remove contaminated material.
Scott Leard told the board an industrial hygienist inspected the work but that the project wasn’t formally closed out pending confirmation from the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services. The town reported costs to date of $25,190. Selectboard members also noted that R&D Paving has begun milling town roads and will begin paving soon.
Board members did not take additional action April 28; staff will report back when DES provides final clearance and a full invoice.
