Brookline Selectboard opens public hearing on 54-acre Tamposi land donation, plans May 12 vote

The Brookline Selectboard held a public hearing April 28 on the proposed donation of a 54.48-acre parcel (lot D-50-2) known as part of Brookline Woods. Town staff said surveyor and topographic plans are on file and available for review.
Michele Decoteau, who presented the proposal, confirmed the town has the survey and background information in her office. Public commenter Brendan Denehy said he "strongly recommends that we accept this property," and the Conservation Commission urged reserving about half of the parcel for conservation purposes. Town members noted that certain uses requiring "intense water usage" may be impractical because the well on site is not highly productive.
Selectboard members discussed possible future uses including a library, dog park or combined planning that integrates Melendy Pond land, and noted that any sale of town land later would be governed by RSA 41:14-a. The board set a motion to place an acceptance vote on the May 12 Selectboard agenda, giving the public further opportunity to comment before a final decision.
The Selectboard did not vote to accept the donation April 28; members said staff would provide additional materials and that the formal acceptance could be taken at the May 12 meeting.
