Public works update: Rushford Village reports normal water tests, DOT to address approach complaints, staff training under way

Public Works/Maintenance Supervisor Darrin Dessner briefed the Rushford Village City Council on operations and maintenance work at the Nov. 4 meeting.
Dessner said routine water tests continue to meet required ranges and the pump house heater has been turned on. He reported that all road ditches have been mowed and that rock was hauled to cover dirt spots on Vogan Road. Dessner and Council Member Rick Ruberg said they spoke with a Minnesota Department of Transportation supervisor (named Neil in discussion) about approach issues at Airport Road and Highway 30 and other reported pot holes; DOT told them the issues will be addressed.
Dessner said he has been in contact with Fillmore County staff about obtaining sand for winter and with Bruening Rock to arrange winter rock delivery. He reported plans to add "Johnson" to the lift station dialer, that Johnson has been trained on water and wastewater readings and weekly tests and that Johnson will take a Class A test in Mason City after holding his permit for the required 14 days.
Council approved a motion permitting Dessner to travel to Mason City to take the Class A road test (motion by Hart, 2nd Ruberg; carried). Dessner said Johnson's work schedule will be 8 hours Monday and Tuesday, with a possible additional Friday shift as staffing allows.
These operational updates were informational and did not include separate formal policy actions beyond the travel permission for staff certification.
