Strategic planning: Superintendent Kevin D. Case presented a proposal to form a short-term committee to examine and revise the district's mission and vision and to identify 3–5 strategic goals for a 3–5 year period. The board supported the proposal and requested the committee meetings be scheduled after Jan. 1, 2026. The proposed committee membership included the superintendent, the principal, three parents/family members, three board members, the First Selectman, a Board of Finance member, five at-large community members and three staff members.
Other governance items: Chair Virginia Coleman‑Prisco said she is considering not running for board chair in December because of additional professional responsibilities and asked members to consider possible replacements. The Policy Committee recommended tabling the first reading of draft Library Materials policies until the November meeting. Board member Walter Godlewski requested the board adopt a goal to address enrollment.
Votes recorded as "UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED" in the minutes. The board membership listed at the start of the minutes indicates five members were present for these votes.
