Public Works Director Elvin Hernandez updated the City Council on Jan. 21 on development permits, the automated meter infrastructure (AMI) tower progress, and capital improvement projects.
Hernandez said the AMI tower foundation at the Taylorcrest water plant has been installed and the radio tower is expected in February 2025. He reported that Phase 1 of the Waterline Replacement project has begun along Mayerling and that the Bunker Hill Rd. and Greenbay sanitary sewer rehabilitation project is 45% complete and remains on schedule despite minor weather delays. He also reported an AT&T communications line was damaged because it was not properly marked; staff will continue work with AT&T to ensure lines are properly marked moving forward.
Council thanked Public Works staff for on-call response during Winter Storm Enzo and directed staff to present a comparison of permits issued in 2023 and 2024 at the next meeting. Finance-related items were noted for follow-up via a memo because the Finance Director experienced technical difficulties during the meeting.
