Principal Lauren Valentino told the board that staff are more than halfway through the first of three ReadConn modules on the science of reading and that teachers revised two writing rubrics for instruction and evaluation. Parent‑teacher conference attendance approached 100 percent, and intermediate students held an Authors' Tea to showcase narrative writing.
Valentino also reported community and extracurricular activity: a Veterans Day assembly with student performances and volunteer support, a Yale School of Music brass quintet performance on Nov. 18, and the formation of a Chess Club run by Gary Scheft during lunch. Mountain Day events were cited as another successful community-building activity.
