Pella City trustees approve February bills; staff report program success and steady county funding

The Pella Public Library Board of Trustees approved the consent agenda and the February bills at the March 10 meeting.
Mat Kelly moved to approve the consent agenda (which included removing a name from the minutes); Joy Messer seconded and the motion passed unanimously. During the financial report, Director Tina Hertel said the February 2026 list of bills had been distributed and noted that an invoice from Sirsi for $20,000 had not yet been received. Amy Meyer moved to approve the February bills, Anna Christensen seconded, and trustees approved the motion unanimously.
In staff reports, the board heard that guest library assistant Barry Johnson has worked at the library 12 years and assists with invoices, monthly statistics and front-desk coverage. Staff reported the Winter Reading program exceeded expectations with 160 completions (the program had expected about 100). The board was also told Marion County will maintain funding at $95,000 for next year. Staff reported the HVAC replacement project is on schedule and noted significant media coverage of the renovated children’s area, JT’s Corner and Milly’s House.
The meeting adjourned at 4:56 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for April 14, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.
