Pella City trustees approve Collection Development Policy changes, table Expression of Concern policy revisions

At the March 10 meeting, the Pella Public Library Board of Trustees approved recommended changes to the library’s Collection Development Policy.
Trustee Amy Meyer moved to approve the recommended changes and Trustee Mat Kelly seconded; trustees voted to approve the changes unanimously. The board did not alter the Expression of Concern Form at this meeting but recommended additional changes to the Expression of Concern Policy and tabled that discussion until the next meeting.
The board’s action leaves the Collection Development Policy updated as recommended by staff and defers further work on how concerns about specific materials are documented and reviewed.
Next steps: Staff and the trustees will continue redrafting the Expression of Concern Policy for reconsideration at a future meeting.
