Lake maintenance update: compressor noise reduced but tone remains an issue; plantings delayed at Lake E4-A

At the July 23 meeting, Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes reported that the community’s lakes, preserves and dry retention areas are in good condition overall but that seasonal algae has been observed. He said a palm tree on Lake E7A shoreline was removed as part of routine maintenance.

Kurth told the board that a cabinet installed around the compressor at Masters Lake reduced the measured sound level at the referenced point from about 64 to 52 decibels; he characterized the new level as acceptable at the referenced location. Operations Manager Shane Willis responded that the concern is the tone of the aerator rather than just decibel level and recommended considering relocating the compressor. The board asked Mr. Willis to coordinate with Bill and Alex Kurth and report findings at the next meeting.

Chair Bob Schultz summarized additional flooding and shoreline concerns in the Edgewater area and recommended a meeting with the Edgewater association and Cambridge Management to reach an acceptable solution. The board reached consensus to delay installing plantings in Lake E4-A and to avoid Cana lilies until an agreement is reached; staff will resubmit a planting proposal when appropriate.

Separately, Mr. Willis presented the Annual Quality Assurance Audit for lake maintenance and dry retention, reporting higher-than-normal water levels this season but no compliance issues; the audit will be scheduled earlier next year.

The meeting also included a presentation of MRI Construction Estimate #C060-24 for Pinehurst inlet-top repair at $10,692.88; board members noted an additional proposal is being sought and the item will remain on the agenda.
