The Windsor Locks Board of Education approved the 2024–25 school calendar on March 25 by a 3–1 vote after members debated the first day of school and timing of parent‑teacher conferences.
Superintendent Shawn Parkhurst presented the calendar recommended by the Calendar Committee, which included board, union and bargaining‑unit representation. Board members discussed options for the start of school and whether to schedule student‑led conferences or parent‑teacher conference windows. Board member G. Guyette recorded the sole vote against the calendar; A. Osorio, L. Cutler and D. Gragnolati voted in favor. The motion was recorded as moved by A. Osorio and seconded by L. Cutler.
The calendar committee that recommended the schedule included a board member and representatives from the Windsor Locks Administrators Association (WLAA), Windsor Locks Teachers Association (WLTA) and paraeducators. The board approved the calendar as presented and no further amendments were made at the March 25 special meeting.
