Windsor Locks Board approves initial Increasing Educator Diversity Plan for state submission

The Windsor Locks Board of Education approved its initial Increasing Educator Diversity Plan at the April 22 special meeting and delegated authority to Superintendent S. Parkhurst to make any revisions required by the State Department of Education.
Parkhurst explained that the state required the district to submit the plan by April 23; plans originally were due in February but extensions were granted while the district secured consulting support and adapted to the state’s submission format. The state will either approve the plan by May 10 or provide feedback requiring revisions.
The motion to approve the district’s initial plan and to delegate revision authority to the superintendent was made by Lindsey Cutler, seconded by D. Gragnolati, and passed unanimously.
Board discussion on the item was brief and procedural; the district will await any feedback from the State Department of Education and implement requested changes through the superintendent’s delegated authority.
