Pembroke approves $62,930 change order for new highway garage paving

Pembroke’s Town Board on Oct. 9 approved a change order that increases the highway garage construction contract by $62,930 to remove and replace failed blacktop where the old foundation was inadequate.
Supervisor Thomas Schneider told the board contractors discovered areas that required removal and repaving around the cold storage building and the backside of the garage. The board approved Change Order GC-16 to the contract with Building Innovation Group, Inc.; the minutes list the base contract amount as $2,760,235.00 and state the change order increases the contract by $62,930. The motion to approve GC-16 was made by Supervisor Schneider and seconded by Councilman Edward G. Arnold Jr.; the vote was recorded as unanimous (3-0).
Schneider also reported work on a concrete apron for the truck bays and that the contractor is adjusting the pitch; turnover of the highway garage remains expected on Nov. 5. The minutes note related site work including a new sewer line that started this week.
Highway Superintendent Scott Turner reported separately that his crew is completing final roadside mowing and that the salt barn is filled; he is also gathering pricing and lease vs. buy comparisons for a new excavator to present at the next board meeting.
The minutes do not record a project contingency source or an updated total project completion date beyond the November turnover target.
