Town board weighs pausing park tournaments while agreement is rewritten; Veterans Cemetery expands

The Pembroke Town Board discussed revisions to a Park Tournament Agreement and whether to allow rented tournaments in 2026. Three board members favored prohibiting tournament rentals in the town park next year while the agreement is revised; Supervisor Thomas Schneider said he believed an agreement could be ready by January but several members preferred that the town attorney notify groups that had requested park use for 2026.
The Town Clerk, Nicole M. Begin, was asked to contact other New York town clerks to learn how other towns manage tournament use of municipal parks. Supervisor Schneider also reported locating a state bid for a 3-point hitch for the town park tractor and said he would present quotes at the next meeting.
In round-table remarks, Councilwoman Deborah Conti said the Veterans Cemetery has acquired all available surrounding land.
