Reed cited academic metrics for the graduating class: a 3.29 average GPA, 2,023 college applications with a 79% admission rate, and an average of five AP, CIS or honors courses per student. She also noted 59 AVID scholars in the class who had a 100% college acceptance rate.
"I have served as superintendent for 9 years here in Hopkins Public Schools, and in just a few days I'll be passing the torch to Dr. Michael Thomas," Reed said, thanking board members and staff for their partnership and work to advance student learning and safety.
Board members offered remarks of gratitude during the meeting; members highlighted Reed's leadership through difficult periods including COVID, praised the communications team for national NSPRA awards and noted the contributions of staff across programs. Several members noted they would continue to see Reed in the community and at the high school.
Reed closed by thanking educators and district staff, and the board adjourned the meeting at 8:47 p.m.
No formal action was required on the transition announcement; the board's business continued with audit and budget votes scheduled on the same agenda.
