CDPHP has pledged $5,000 as startup support, the presenter said, leaving an approximate $27,000 gap the district would seek to raise through donations and foundation partnerships. The district plans to explore a legal agreement with Shredders, pursue a fundraising campaign — potentially in partnership with the Shen Foundation — and, if funded, target an implementation window in spring or fall 2027.
Board members asked procedural questions about next steps; staff said the district’s only anticipated direct cost beyond fundraising would be routine maintenance and upkeep of the fleet. The presenter emphasized the program’s PE focus, curriculum, teacher PD and partnerships with local bike shops for maintenance.
No formal vote on the pilot was taken at the meeting; the proposal was presented for consideration pending an agreement and fundraising. The Shen Foundation report later in the meeting listed the bikes project among its fundraising pipeline.
