Monroe CT250 committee forms subcommittee to scope flags and banners for CT250

Committee members spent significant time discussing where CT250 flags and banners could be displayed, who owns telephone poles along Main Street and Route 25, and which town departments or contractors would install banners. Members flagged three practical hurdles: (1) many poles are privately owned or managed by utilities, (2) DPW and the landscaping contractor coordinate installations and may require a vendor, and (3) alternating CT250 flags with American flags would require design and placement decisions.

The committee formed a small working group to research those questions. Volunteers (Ray, Marita and Aaron if agreeable, plus Nicole and other staff volunteers) will check pole ownership, vendor pricing, installation methods and any conflicts with existing American-flag displays. The group set a goal to report findings by the end of February so the committee can decide whether to buy flags or pursue banners.

Members estimated a rough initial cost range for flags, banners and small event items near $2,100, but emphasized that estimate will be refined by the subcommittee and event leads. "If we do every four to six polls, put a CT250 flag," one member suggested as a lower-cost visual approach that could be implemented if permissions are granted.
