Monroe adopts 2026 parks and recreation fee schedule; residents get free Massic Pool access starting Sept. 2026

The Monroe Town Council unanimously adopted Resolution 26‑004 on Jan. 12, approving the town’s 2026 Parks & Recreation seasonal fee schedule and a policy change that will allow Monroe residents free use of the Massic Pool beginning in September 2026.
Under the adopted schedule, camping and picnic reservation fees take effect Feb. 17, 2026; pool fees for Wolf Park Pool and Lake Zoar take effect May 1, 2026; Great Hollow car entrance fees take effect May 23, 2026; and the Massic Pool fee structure goes into effect Sept. 21, 2026. Council members noted the commission’s recommendation and emphasized that residents would not see fee increases for the 2026 season.
Parks & Recreation Director Miss Yoros provided the commission’s recommendations to the council. Council member Jason Mau said the change — making the Massic Pool free for Monroe residents starting in September — is the result of long-term discussion and could increase community use of town facilities.
Vice Chair Wales moved adoption of the resolution and Jason Mau seconded. The council approved Resolution 26‑004 by voice vote, 9–0.
The resolution language included effective dates for different fee categories. The council packet noted the Parks & Recreation Commission reviewed these recommendations at its Jan. 5, 2026 meeting.
