Monroe board dissolves selection committee, forms 2024–25 districtwide master plan facilities committee

The Chair announced the dissolution of the districtwide master plan selection committee formed in January and said the board is creating a 2024–25 ad hoc districtwide master plan facilities committee to complete a facilities study and advise the board on capital projects.

The committee, the Chair said, will work with the architectural firm retained for the facility study and "seek input from the community as to the needs of the Monroe School District and to make final recommendations to the BOE on a path forward regarding the school buildings, fields and the associated cost involved." Meetings will be posted and open to the public, and the full board will later consider which projects to place on the capital plan and request approvals from the appropriate town boards.

Board members and staff discussed timing: the facilities study reports are expected in January–February, after which the new master plan committee will drill down into final recommendations. The Chair stressed the process could be lengthy and noted the committee will be sized to allow broad community representation without having too many members.

The superintendent and administration will help determine committee membership; the Chair asked board members to indicate interest. The district will present recommended projects to the town through the capital-plan and town-meeting processes when the committee concludes its work.

The motion to proceed with committee changes was part of routine board business and no formal vote separate from the agenda occurred; the board moved on to other agenda items after the announcement.
